We care about our environment, which is why Ipanema
develops and champions ‘Impact Reduction’ techniques
including the recycling of pulp and husks for fertilizer
and the cultivation of eucalyptus for use as renewable
fuel. With water wastage reduced by 90% and the
planting of 50,000 seedlings annually to aid our
reforestation programme, it’s of little surprise that
leading trade bodies such as the Speciality Coffee
Association of Europe (SCAE) recognise Ipanema as
the worlds ‘Outstanding Producer’ of 2009.
We know that coffee tastes even better with a clear
conscience which is why Ipanema is as committed
to social and environmental sustainability as it is
to producing world class coffee.
From the beginning, Ipanema have always strived
to support our working community through social
and economic programmes. Today, our 3000
strong work force and their families benefit from
initiatives including free education, free milk,
food subsidy, housing provision and rehabilitation
programmes.
